About Us OLD

While traditional support groups are excellent environments for connecting socially with others affected by aphasia, our founder, Dan Hogan, found that they did not help with learning reinforcement or the daily practice of tools and skills required for independent living.

When it was suggested that Dan start a different kind of support group, one that was dedicated to using applied technology and social interaction to encourage independence, Dan jumped on it. Consistent with his can-do approach to life, he rounded up a team and Brain Buddy was formed in 2010.

Brain Buddy had its first meeting with its aphasia friends in July 2010. Since then, we have been working with friends affected by aphasia on a regular basis. Brain Buddy received its 501(c)3 status in 2011.
